update on Liana

Just a little update on Liana...

Monday she had a check up with her surgeon and cardiologist. Both were very pleased with her progress. Her heart looks good. Her body responded very well to the Fontan procedure.
The chest x-ray was clear. Liana has no fluid build up in her lungs! She will continue taking the Lasix for a while, but thankfully the doctor decreased the dosage. One big need is healing of the actual surgical wound on her chest. It began to gap open a little, so the surgeon changed instructions a bit on its care. Stitches were removed from five places in her chest where the drain tubes had been. That was torture to her! It took two medical people, plus us parents, to hold her still. We felt so sorry for her! Please agree with us for the Lord's protection over Liana, from infection and sickness, as she continues her recovery over the next six weeks.

We truly love our dear, sweet daughter Liana and praise the Lord for the privilege of being her parents! Thanks again for your prayers and support during this time. We feel loved and blessed.

Love in Christ,
Guy and Tina Marie

Liana thanks you too!

Moments of Fun

Photo Reflections of Hospital Stay

5th day in hospital

Liana slept great last night! We are continually praising the Lord for how well she is doing. Today the last chest tube was removed! It was a momentary painful procedure. Bless her heart! Tomorrow she will have an echocardiogram. The doctors are pleased with her progress. She is following instructions and walking along with sitting up in a chair a lot today. She spent at least two hours in the playroom painting, crafting and playing house. Thanks for your prayers! We see God moving before our eyes. Praise His holy name!

Fourth Day: Friday, October 1, 2010

We had a rough night! Liana woke up every hour until about 4:00 A.M. Her chest was hurting a lot. A chest x- ray was taken. Thankfully it looked good! Her doctor explained that the symptoms she’s been having are common following a Fontan procedure. Her doctor prescribed something a little stronger for this evening, if we need it. Liana has walked four times today, and she has been doing her physical therapy blowing exercise really well. This afternoon she painted and played in the children’s activity room. Another tube was removed from her chest this evening! The doctor indicated we should go home before too long.

Third Day: Thursday, September 30, 2010

Liana had a wonderful day with lots of visitors including a clown. A chest draining tube was removed. She started running a low grade fever around bedtime, plus she was panting. We called family and some friends to pray.

Up and About

The Day After (Wednesday, September 29)

Liana did well after surgery and had a restful night. We greeted her at 5:00 A.M. in CICU on Wednesday, September 29, 2010. One tear streamed from her eye when she saw us. We reached out to hug her but she resisted, as if to say, “Where have you been? Do you realize what I have been going through?” Thankfully she forgives quickly and doesn’t hold grudges.

The nurse briefed us on her night. Liana was taken off the ventilator around 2:00 A.M. She is recovering so well, that she was released to a room after lunch. This is a huge blessing! This evening, she has already walked a little and ridden in a car down the halls while her BaBa pushed! She is tired and sore, of course, but we are thrilled to see our spunky four year old daughter bouncing back so quickly!

Family

Praise the Lord…surgery complete!

Praise the Lord. Liana’s surgery was successful! Thanks
for all your prayers! We visited with her a couple of times
last night. She stayed asleep most of the time. Mei Mei, her
baby doll stayed with her through the night. Our next visit
is at 5:00 A.M. today. We are ready to see our little girl!
Each shift the nurses tell us they heard from the surgical
staff that Liana is a joy to work with. They’ll really get to
know our spunky girl today! We’ll be in touch.

Love,
Guy and Tina Marie

PS As Liana was being rolled away on the gurney for surgery
she waved and called, “I’ll see you after while.” Such a joy!

Please pray for Liana…

Hello Everyone!

Our precious daughter Liana is scheduled for heart surgery, Tuesday @ 8:00 A।M. at University Hospital in Birmingham. She is having a Fontan procedure which is done to redirect blood flow. She was born without the left ventricle. The Glenn was performed in China now the Fontan at University Hospital. "The Glenn and Fontan allow blood to be routed directly to the lungs, leaving the ventricle that is able to work well to pump blood to the body. "

Grandparents are the greatest!

Liana loves her grandparents. She calls Guy’s parents Grandpa and Grandma, and Tina Marie’s parents are Granddaddy and Gran. I think they all enjoy having another grandchild in the family. Liana is the first granddaughter on the Posey side, and she is the twentieth grandchild in the Hyche family!

Adoption…a dream come true!

I dreamed of one day adopting a little girl from China ever since I was a girl. Guy embraced our Heavenly Father’s heart for adoption early in our marriage. Our sons Jeremy and Chris knew since they were young that we desired to adopt. In fact, I still remember the day the two of them ran into the kitchen announcing that their aluminum can fund, which they were saving for a horse, was now to be applied toward a baby sister! Wow! They brought a mist of tears to my eyes at that moment. I was so proud of them then and I still am very proud of Jeremy and Chris!…(I love you, sweet sons!)
They adore their little sister, and of course she is very thrilled over her two big brothers.
Plus, Jeremy and Chris are both married now, so Liana got instant big sisters!

Proud mother who answers to three names…
Jeremy calls me Mama.
Chris calls me Mom.
Liana calls me MaMa. (Chinese pronunciation)

PS The boys savings paid for the initial adoption application fee! God is awesome!
I’ll share more another time about God’s miracle of provision for our adoption process.

Princess Liana’s fourth birthday!

Dear Birth Mother

July 30, 2010

Dear Birth Mother of our daughter,

I wish I could tell you just how much we love our precious girl! We are so very grateful that you chose to give her life! Today on her fourth birthday, you may be thinking… I wonder where she is. I wonder how she is doing. I wonder what she looks like. I wonder if she is in good care.

Liana was adopted by our family… the Posey People from America. We named our precious bundle of joy Liana, which means, my God has answered….God answered our cry for a Chinese girl, which had been my dream since I was a girl! God answered Liana’s cry for a forever family. We are Christians, and we believe that one day she will cry out to the Lord and ask Jesus into her heart, and He will answer.

We heard about her through Lifeline Children’s Services Waiting Child Program. We learned that she has a serious heart defect. We love her as her own. We are getting her the best medical treatment possible, so that she can live her life to the fullest.

I yearn to be able to convey to you that Liana’s smile is beautiful and contagious. She is a very sweet child. She generally wakes up happy and goes to bed singing. She has lots of friends. She is very outgoing and confident. Liana is also thoughtful and loves to share.

She brings such joy to our lives, and we can’t imagine life without her. I wish I could hug you and say thank you in person, but I am asking God to show you His love and give you His peace. Thanks again for the precious gift you lovingly shared through Liana!

Mother to mother,
Tina Marie
